​Sara Brewer from Wayward Vines, representing Niven Family Estates, teams up once again with Chef David Furhman from Great Events Catering for an unforgettable evening of food & wine.

VINEYARD HISTORY Jack Niven pioneered winegrape planting with Paragon Vineyard in the Edna Valley in 1973. Not the bystander type, his wife Catharine soon after began a project that grew into what is now Baileyana Winery. In the mid 1990s, their two sons, James and John, purchased property next door, and expanded Paragon Vineyard. They designed and planted these new blocks with select clones, varieties and rootstocks specific to the site. They named this section Firepeak, in homage of the extinct volcanoes in the area, and the resulting volcanic soils. THE EDNA VALLEY The coolest growing region in all of California, as cited in a study by Southern Oregon University, the Edna Valley is a mere 5.4 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

About Wayward Vines 

Owner Sara Brewer brings twenty-five years of industry experience to the company.


She began as a buyer for several well-know restaurants on the East Coast and advanced to representing boutique suppliers on a national level. Later, she directed the luxury wine division of one of the world’s largest wine producers calling on all major accounts in Florida.


Brewer continues to foster her wine knowledge  and passion for the industry and is actively pursuing her Diploma with the WSET (Wine and Spirits Educational Trust) based in England. Her knowledge of the southeastern distribution channels along with her long-term relationships with key buyers and track record, make her a respected and trusted wine industry veteran among her peers..


Sara has taken this knowledge and meticulously paired the perfect wine with chef Dave's brilliant menu.
